Christmas is special in Horse Country.
We celebrate life with horses in big ways, which usually involve red and green. There’s our small town Christmas parades, with horses of course. There’s the new Christmas morning ponies, complete with a Santa hat for some lucky little person. There’s the barns and gates and fence posts all decked out in case you forgot the time of year. And, there’s the night-after-night extravaganza at Tryon International Equestrian Center with light shows, vendor markets, a live Nativity and Christmas performances.
All year is special here, but Christmas, now that’s really special.

Shadrack’s Christms Light Show at TIEC
The drive-through light show occurs every evening from Wednesday, November 24 through Sunday, January 2. Hundreds of thousands of lights are animated to music for those driving past. For more information, visit
Winterfest Village at TIEC
The village is open Thursdays-Sundays every weekend in December from 5-9 p.m. through Dec. 19. Tour the light show, then park and take in the magic of the holiday season in Legends Plaza, the heart of Tryon Resort, at the 2021 Winterfest Village. Enjoy a meal in one of the on-site restaurants or sample from concessions stands and shops. One ticket gets visitors in to everything the Winterfest Village has to offer:
